1. How old are you?/Birthday?
'95 liner. 7 Feb.

2. Where are you from?/ Are you a Chinese?
Singapore. Singaporean Chinese.

3. What languages do you speak?
English, Mandarin Chinese. I understand basic Hainanese and Korean.

4. Stan of?/ SNSD or EXO?/ Any other favourite groups?
Girls' Generation and EXO. EQUALLY.
I respect BoA and DBSK as seniors,SJ's variety skills, SHINee's live stages, f(x)'s concept. (SMTOWN stan here yoz)

5. Bias? (GG and EXO)
Taeyeon. Biasless (Practically gave up trying to find a bias after ~2 years, admit my OT12 fate)

6. Where do you get your updates from?
Mainly Weibo. The two main kor-chi translators (for EXO) in the cfandom.

Reply1994 E12; Miracles

This episode touched on the collapse of the Sampoong Departmental Store, which happened in 1995. Netizens were originally speculating if this incident was going to be covered in Reply 1994 or not, and it turns out that they did~ And it was brilliantly filmed, as it managed to allow the viewers to experience and understand how family and friends, of both the victims and the people who were supposed to be there, felt.
The anxiousness for some, and the others, the sigh of relief.

Of course, I am not a Korean myself, but this disaster (South Korea's largest peacetime disaster in history)
reminded me of the Nicoll Highway collapse which happened in Singapore, 2004. I was only 9, and my memory of it was just that, it was greatly covered in the news, and that it was something scary, and unbelievable.
And I went back to my toys after switching off the television.

This episode had me thinking. It wasn't just a scary moment for the people who were trapped and injured, but for the people they know as well.

That uncertainty, of whether your family members/friends who happened to be there, at that moment, are safe or not.

That moment, when all the pagers started beeping... The director captured the foreboding atmosphere really well.

That scene, of Haitai, Samcheonpo and the SeoTaiji fangirl paging Joon and Jung, and leaving their voice messages...

And the tears of relief, when Najung saw Joon at the traffic light.

Some people say that there is a miracle, and others say that there isn't.
But in the end, at that desperate moment, anyone prays for a miracle
and waits for one.
That's why a miracle should exist.
So that a slight hope, at least, can be given at every desperate moment. A miracle must exist.

Unfortunately, this stroke of luck doesn't apply for all. This is when the notable, exceptional scriptwriting of the Reply series come into play.

But miracles are miracles because they are not common.
Rather than luck that you didn't anticipate, there's much more misfortune that you couldn't even think of in this world.
Life, to live believing in only miracles, is cold and harsh.

 

Another trademark of the Reply series, is how well the various scenes manage to link at the end of each episode. Sometimes, with a shocking revelation. Something that makes the viewers go "Ah! So that's why they added this scene at the beginning!" How everything ties up in the end.. 

In the end, miracles are a matter of probability
Miracles exist only for one person.
For the remaining 9999 people, it's merely nonsense.
Life is, in all and overwhelming probability, cruel.

Anyway, I saw a post on Weibo, discussing the possible candidates for Najung's husband. And I found a point of hers quite interesting: the biggest spoiler, is Najung's character.

The end; the beginning

It is finally the end of A Level examinations, and the start of everything.

No more Physics theories, Math formulas, Economic structures and Chemistry diagrams for the rest of my life~
From now on, I'm gonna live, for myself.

These few years have been tiring, and albeit meaningless.
I mean, I love reading some of the notes that were given to me tbh, but the thought of reading it because I have to memorise them and use them in tests just turns me off.
Sometimes, being a student makes me forget that I'm a human, too.


So, remember my celebratory plans?
Here it is!

Rushed off immediately after the chief examiner (?) released us and ran from the school to the MRT station with my friend. Had my deer plushie with me~

FREEDOM!

It still feels pretty much surreal to me... the fact that I have graduated from this system.
This tiring routine of studying (for the sake of A Level), staying up late (for the sake of A Level), getting stressed up (for the sake of A Level), being restricted and not able to do what I want (for the sake of A Level).
Gone.

18 years. Okay, maybe that's exaggerated. Technically, for 6+4+2 years *inserts "OMG IT'S 12!" joke*, I have been told and instructed and forced and pressurized by the society to prepare for this major exam. And then suddenly, it's..
Gone.

And all of a sudden, I'm lost.

Previously, I kept telling myself that "I will do this after A Level" and "How I wish I can do this but A Level", and now, the chance is given to me. Yet.. I'm too overwhelmed by it.

There's this uncertainty in the future, which I really don't like.

What am I going to do now? What am I going to do tomorrow? The day after. Next week. Next month.

The thought of my future scares me.
I don't want to grow up. I don't want to grow old.
I don't want to die.
And when I die, I don't want to regret a single thing.

Here's the plan.
1. $
First on the list: Make as much money as possible.
After all, you can't deny that money is the solution to most problems.

Found a temporary job for four days, 28NOV-1DEC at SITEX '13.
Yup, a day after my freedom. Hardcore much, huh?
It was a cashiering job for ~12hours, including preparation and packing up time.
It drains pretty much all your energy, and it was the first time I felt physically tired and sleep deprived. Had to eat my dinner at 12AM-ish for the past four days. And I fell asleep twice in front of the computer after that.

But I have to say that it taught me quite a lot, dealing with customers of all kinds, interacting with your boss and coworkers, meeting your primary and JC schoolmates at work :/ , coping with all sorts of impromptu situations...
SPEAKING OF WHICH, I HAD A FEW HILARIOUS MOMENTS AHAHAHAH
Some customers practically scrawled their names and one of them was "RIZAL" and being a responsible and dutiful cashier, I went on to confirm with him, asking, "Is your name R-1-2-A-2?"
Okay, I admit that it was a mistake on my part for not being able to read names. But it's so funny I can't stop laughing whenever I recall the incident. (Talking about my mistake, not the customer's name/handwriting kay)

Currently working on an application for another job, which I will reveal if I get it.
Meanwhile, I'm on the constant lookout for more jobs to earn as much as possible to fund my other plans.

2. December to August... Or more.
The expected path after A-level would be university entrance, and if my results are good enough, I will most probably be going to NUS and applying for FASS- Communications and New Media. And the new term will begin in August.

However, I am considering an alternative option which is taking a gap year.
During that one year (or even two), I want to study Korean at Yonsei KLI, explore Korea, and experience living overseas alone and doing things on my own.

At the same time, like what I have said before, do random things that have been on my to do list for quite some time. Learn how to play the guitar, dance, and maybe, photography.
Because life isn't all about studying and living up to society's expectations.
You own your life.

3. Schedule
2-8DEC: FREE (i.e. plan, pack, shop)
9DEC: PROM
13DEC: Attend a wedding dinner (FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD)
14-15DEC: Camp
