Ewha Womans University exchange application (SEP) - NUS student guide

Finally done with SEP application to Ewha. It's been bothering me for the past two weeks but yay it's finally over and I can kinda rest for now (and study for finals :/)

NUS doesn't provide any detailed guides for Ewha exchange students upon the offer unlike those for the other universities (prolly because Ewha is a faculty level partner university instead of a uni level one, i.e. only FASS students can apply for Ewha exchange).
I was terribly lost because I couldn't find any guides online either, and there weren't many NUS students going to Ewha (only found 2 so far and I hope to find more during the pre-departure briefing). So I decided to write this post!

My cap was 4.05 when I applied and my choices/ranking was:
1. Korea University
2. Yonsei University
3. Ewha Womans University
4. Seoul National University
5. KAIST

Didn't get KU (my statement of purpose was completely focused on KU) though a friend who had a slightly lower CAP got it so it might not be 100% based on CAP. SEP briefing said that there's no ranking this time round but I'm not sure if this is really true because the application system required us to rank our choices.
I'm in LPP; once you specify on the application system that you are under LPP it auto limits your choices to Korea-only options.

Upon the internal offer, studyabroadfass will send you this email which tells you what to do, including a pdf attachment with the list of documents to submit, by a deadline that is highlighted and in bold. And that if you do not submit the hardcopy to the office by that deadline (somewhere in Feb) your application will be deemed withdrawn. But the thing is,

EWHA EXCHANGE STUDENTS (NUS) DO NOT HAVE TO DO ANYTHING (yet).

I was so lost, because I couldn't find Ewha's guide in the attached link whereas the other schools all had like step-by-step guides, and the application site on Ewha (there's like a few I swear, I don't know which one is the most updated) said Fall semester application wasn't opened yet. I had no idea where to get the application form (required doc in the pdf) since the application system wasn't opened yet. I then emailed studyabroadfass to ask them about this and I got the above reply.

SO from acceptance of offer (think it was Dec) till Apr, you don't have to do a single thing. They will notify you that your transcript is ready for collection somewhere in Feb or Mar tho, so just go and collect and that's it.

Ewha's application is completely online. For my batch, the fall semester application opens on Apr 15.
During the period, you only need to prepare for the documents below (so that you can submit your application once the Ewha system opens, as Ewha's dorm application is on a first-come-first-serve basis). In late march, you will receive an email from the exchange department about the documents you need to prepare (for Ewha). Check your junk mail or clutter! It was in my junk mail lol

The docs are very basic (check the mail still in case they changed or added extra stuff):
3x4cm ID photo (no need to be exact I used the one we used to apply for our student matric pass)
a copy of passport bio page
transcript
statement of purpose (can't be too short -- my friend's application got sent back because it was too short, use the one you used for SEP application as the base and edit accordingly)
medical clearance form,
and student agreement form.

The last two are bolded because I feel that they need more elaboration.
The medical clearance form is downloadable from the mail they sent. It's for tuberculosis clearance. You have to do a skin test/x-ray and get the doctor to endorse it. I suggest doing the x-ray at UHC cuz it's cheaper (entire cost was about $30++, including $10 for endorsing of the form wth), fast and convenient, I guess. Because if your skin test is positive you still have to do an x-ray test, and x-ray is faster. Do note that the x-ray services are not available every day. Check the UHC operating hours and plan your visit. I went at 9 on a Tuesday because you get to do the x-ray in the morning, and the results should be collectable by that afternoon. Thus you get to clear this form in a day. :) Remember to print and bring the form along when you go over!

The student agreement form wasn't available to us at all. We only found out about it when we logged in on the day itself. We had to (emailed Ewha staff about this) submit this with our application.
So get ready to send a copy of it to the SEP email to request for Ms Kimberly Yang's signature. She's our coordinator and she's fast :) She'll notify you to collect it at the dean's office when she's done. Ensure that the form is stamped before leaving the office because mine wasn't stamped and I had to ask the front desk to help me do so.

As someone lazy I took photos of the required documents with my phone camera (Samsung Galaxy S7 ;) ) and transferred them to my computer. And they are accepted. So for those who hate going through the trouble of scanning of docs process you can just do this. Just make sure everything is clear and visible.
It took me only about 2-3 hours to get accepted on the Ewha system! :) The Ewha staff are friendly and efficient. So far so good.

Will prolly have to experience the same sense of loss over the next few steps like visa application and modules registration but we'll see!

Oh and I booked my airplane ticket a day after! (Don't judge, I'm going over earlier to meet R and go around the city before school starts.)  After buying the ticket you have to update the checklist (available after your application is approved) with your insurance (I chose to get the Ewha one cuz less hassle) and flight details (by July). Next step would be waiting for the admission package (only sent mid July -.- and rushing the visa application.

Freaking excited for my SEP trip. I really hope everything will be alright. :)
